News about Barcode Scanners
[22/05/2010] Housing types
According to their housing types the barcode readers are divided into the following groups:
- Handheld readers are the lightest readers available and most of them weigh only a few ounces, but there are larger models as well. Most handheld barcode scanners have a trigger that turns the light source on and off.
- Pen (wand) scanners are small and extremely easy to use, pen-shape devices, which typically have no moving parts, which makes them reliable and sturdy.
- Stationary scanners are mounted on walls, tables, and counters and read the barcode labels as items are passed beside or under the reader.
- Fixed-position scanners are larger, industrial devices that are typically found in factories, warehouses, farms and airports.
- PDA scanners are portable scanners that usually connect to other devices via cable or using wireless technology.
- Automatic readers are capable of reading tens of thousands of barcode labels per hour and are commonly used in offices and organizations for processing documents.
